Jeanette Williams Foundation Sets Sail For Summer With
Champagne Wishes and Caviar Dreams
Charity Dinner Cruise
Fundraising goals were met, and fun was had by all!

April 28, 2011 (Clear Lake) — The Jeanette Williams Foundation and a host of supporters set sail on The Big White Boat at FantaSea Yacht Charters at South Shore Harbor Resort on Sunday, April 17, and judging from the results, everyone had a great time partying with old friends and dining with and meeting new ones.

"We are ecstatic with the way everything turned out," said JWF's founder, Dianne Troop. "We had great sponsors, and we were especially fortunate to have Alex Rodriguez Mercedes-Benz as our Presenting Sponsor. This has been our biggest fundraiser to date, and we are pleased to announce that we will be able to send ten more campers to Camp For All this coming summer."

Proceeds from the fundraiser will be used to send more than 50 children being treated for cancer and blood disorders at UTMB-Galveston to the Camp For All in Burton, Texas. The camp, which was built over 10 years ago by the M.D. Anderson Foundation offers the best in camping activities, but also meets the special needs of children being treated for life-threatening illnesses. Comprehensive medical facilities – along with doctors and nurses onsite -- are built amongst the trails, walkways, pool and other amenities that help the children forget they're a patient. "Our plan is to send an additional 10 children each summer and eventually be able to send all the children fighting cancer at UTMB to camp each year."

Those who attended Champagne Wishes were eager to do what they could to help JWF reach its goals. A staging party was hosted by JWF before boarding the cruise, with champagne donated by Roy Green, GM of South Shore Hotel and Conference Center. Era Lee Caldwell and Chiquita Taylor welcomed guests at the hotel bar as they arrived for the cruise. Once aboard, a delicious dinner was served, and guests enjoyed an open bar and danced to the music of Mickey Hobbs. They also bid on items large and small in a silent and live auction.

Generous donations of hotels, condos, trips and more made the live auction one exciting event. Some of the winners of the Live Auction:  Mark and Nancy Cochran won a condo in Port Lucaya, Bahamas for a week. Robyn Weigelt will soon be planning a trip to Ruidoso, New Mexico for a week at condo and airfare included. Bonnie Lem is going to be taking an afternoon cruise with fifteen of her nearest and dearest
Johnson. Jennifer and Kyle Rogers are going to be spending four days at Las Vegas' tres chic Paris Hotel. Sean Bailey will be taking a "Seas the Day" Laguna Madre Fishing Trip!

The Jeanette Williams Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) organization founded in the memory of  Dianne Troop’s mother Jeanette Williams for the purpose of helping find a cure for this disease that takes far too many of our children.
